Bailaora: Mis Pies Son Mi Voz

Bailaora is a feature film documentary that tells the story of Siudy Garrido and her groundbreaking work as a flamenco artist, immigrant, and woman. The film tracks Garrido's unmatched work ethic — directing a band of seven top male musicians and choreographing a six-dancer corps de ballet — as well as her trailblazing force as a Venezuelan-born artist in a traditionally Spanish genre.

A hypnotic documentary that follows Siudy Garrido and her company as they face the challenges of a ten-week season in New York.

A hypnotic documentary that follows Siudy Garrido and her company as they face the challenges of a ten-week season in New York. The dream at the core of this story is elegantly simple: the prodigious Venezuelan-born flamenco dancer and her select group of artists aspire to bring their masterful production, Entre Mundos, to an iconic stage in the vibrant heart of New York. What initially seems like a straight path ahead quickly turns into a winding road, full of monumental efforts and unexpected challenges. From raising the necessary funds and organizing travel logistics to creating advertising campaigns from scratch — including a memorable sequence where they perform a flash mob in Times Square — and capturing the attention of national press, everything becomes a dizzying whirlwind of emotions and relentless trials. The constant struggle to keep the flame of art alive, the fatigue of an uncertain path, the tears and triumphs that intertwine throughout this odyssey — everything is laid bare in this film with raw sincerity.

“An honest look at the struggle to keep the flame of art alive in the Big Apple.”

Press

Critical Acclaim

Coverage of Siudy Garrido's artistry — the work these films capture.

Raw passion that surges through the arching torsos, the staccato footwork, the rich curves of arm and wrist.

The New York Times

Siudy is a brilliant soloist with a vibrant company.

Los Angeles Times

A cambré and port de bras that would give envy to any classical dancer, and a fire in the body that would leave speechless many flamenco dancers.

El Nuevo Herald — Miami

Stomp, Rent, Riverdance with a little bit of West Side Story for good measure — but unique in its own creative experience. This exceptionally talented cast will set your heart on fast beat and keep you riveted.
